Many Americans would say Thanksgiving is their favorite holiday, as it is an occasion for families to gather, eat plenty of good food, and perhaps watch a game or two. Thanksgiving also provides us with a much needed break from our hectic lives to pause, reflect, and give thanks for all that we have.
However, for many Americans the holiday season brings stress and uncertainty. In the time it takes you to read this message, two people will have died of hunger. 1 in 6 Tennesseans alone face hunger, with 1 in 4 of those individuals being children. In our land of wealth and prosperity, there are nearly 50 million Americans who are unsure as to when or where their next meal will come from.
We aim to give 125 families in our community a “ready to eat” Thanksgiving basket, filled with a Turkey and scrumptious side dishes all prepared by Nashville Native and renowned chef, Keith Batts.
Since the first 100 Dreams Turkey Drive in 2013, ASPIRE has partnered with local community leaders, athletes, and entertainers to provide a Thanksgiving meal to over 125 families. For the 3rd Annual 100 Dreams Turkey Drive, Aspire will host a giving campaign from November 1st through the 20th, in an effort to raise $5,000 to provide Thanksgiving to our neighbors in need. Notable sponsors for this event include Coca-Cola, The Green Truck Movers, City Councilman Lonnell Matthews, Jermaine "Starlito" Shute, Marcus Shute, Chef Keith Batts, Dominique & Coty Sensabaugh, Robert "Black Rob" Higgins and Lace'lae Hair Salon.
